Songs That Give Me The Feels: #1

Hey guys, a bit of a random post today, but one that I think you all will enjoy.

Music is a big part of our lives, whether it's what gets you pumped up, or what mellows you out; music can give us feelings that we didn't even realise existed. Such as remorse, joy, excitement, or in my case for this song I'm about to mention...ALL THE FEELS.

As music is a big part of my life, I wanted to introduce a new post series on my blog that includes music recommendations. I'll only mention one song per post, and it'll be from any genre and each song will have special significance to it. Today's song is all about feeling wistful, light, and remembering our childhood.

HOLD ON, HOLD ON, DON'T CLICK OFF JUST YET!

I wanted to make a post on my blog for a long time about childhood, and how different my childhood was when I was, well, a child, compared to children today; it involved a lot less iPads. I don't want to sound like one of those people who suggest that technology has ruined our lives, and that children nowadays are having a mediocre childhood compared to us old folk, I merely want to express my love for my own childhood. Back when I would stay up till 3AM on Christmas Eve to see Father Christmas, back when I would deliberately try to pull my own teeth out just to see the Tooth Fairy, back when I would spend more time outside playing games with my friends, using my imagination to it's fullest and feeling that I was wild and untamed (until my mum would call for me to come back inside the house).

Baby Georgia (age 3!)
About a year ago, I watched one of the most wonderful films that I had seen in a long time, called Rise Of The Guardians. If you've seen the film yourself, you will know exactly why I think it's so wonderful. For those of you who have no clue what the film is, or what it's about, it's basically all about children and their beliefs in things they cannot see. The film itself centers around the illusive figure of Jack Frost, a young spirit known for causing trouble with his icy powers, who is unseen by the children of the world as they don't believe in him. Along with the magical creatures and figures we loved when we were children, such as Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, the Tooth Fairy and the Sandman, they protect the children of the world and their beliefs from the haunting and malicious Pitch Black, who wants the children of the world to believe in him, and only him. When trouble strikes, the Guardians enlist Jack Frost to join their team of guardians and once and for all, defeat the evil Pitch Black.

I hope that makes sense, no spoilers here!

There are many reasons as to why I loved this film so much, for one the animation is astounding, and the voice acting is superb by Chris Pine, Hugh Jackman and Jude Law (to name a few!). The film is also based on the wonderful books written by William Joyce. And here's a little fact about me you probably didn't know, and that is that I am OBSESSED with film scores. I love them, and Alexandre Desplat (the score composer of this film) is one of my favourite composers of all time. The music for this film is mesmerizing, captivating, and certainly will make you feel all the feels.

As much as I love the soundtrack, there was one song on it that really made me, well, tear up...a lot...OK I BALLED MY EYES OUT! It's the only song on the soundtrack with lyrics, sung by the astonishing Renee Fleming, and the entire song is just breathtaking. It's called "Still Dream", and was written by David Lindsay-Abaire and Alexandre Desplat.

The song conjured up many emotions within me, ranging from joy to complete heartache over my lost childhood. The song also inspired hope within me, to stay positive and to remember the little things in life. And it is, without a doubt, one of my all time favourite songs. My inner choreographer is just dying to create a dance piece to it! It's just beautiful, and I really recommend you guys give it a listen.

(If the video clip inserted doesn't work, you can listen to it here!)

And that is my first song recommendation! Do let me know if you think this is a good idea or not, I just felt like trying something different! And comment down below a song that makes you feel all the feels! I will see you next time!

The Beauty Blogger Tag!

Hey guys!

Today, I thought it would be fun to do some sort of tag/question and answer thingy, as I've yet to do one on my blog, and I thought it would be interesting! I found this tag on Beauty Guide 101's blog, so I give her complete credit for this! (Although I have cut out a few questions as I either a. didn't understand them, or b. didn't have an answer for them!)

So, here we go! The Beauty Blogger Tag!

Happy Father's Day

Hello again!

I apologise for being a little AWOL this week, I'd love to say it was because I was busy, but really I've just been watching Pretty Little Liars for the first time and I'm pretty sure it's not normal to get through 3 seasons in a week!

Anyway, I was going to do another Sunny Sunday post today, as a lot of positive things have happened this week, including my dad coming home from working in Dubai for the last few weeks. But, as it's Father's Day today, I thought I would dedicate this post to my lovely dad.

My dad and I are as close as fathers and daughters could be. We've been through quite a lot these last couple of years, and throughout everything, he's always stayed jolly and optimistic. He inspires me everyday to laugh and smile, even though times can be tough. However, being the awful daughter that I am, I completely forgot to buy him a Father's Day card! When I spoke to him earlier in the week, I mentioned that I had yet to get him a present and a card, and that because I'm low on money, he may have to wait until I get paid at the end of July. But he told me not to worry. He told me that he doesn't believe in dedicating an entire day to one parent when children continuously show their love everyday. I apologised to him this morning, and yet again, he told me not to worry. Now, I know that a lot of people choose to spend days like today celebrating with their parents, maybe go for a nice meal, or have a little get-together with the entire family; but my family are spending it differently. My mum is working till late today, and my dad has gone to play cricket. So, I'm currently home alone (watching Pretty Little Liars...). And it's given me time to reflect on just how lucky I am to have such a kind, easy-going father.

When I needed money for a coffee with friends, he would kindly give me some. When I was out of school and going into the world of professional performing, he gave me my first job. When I got so drunk that I was throwing up everywhere at a friends house, he gladly picked me up and laughed at my teenage antics. I know a lot of girls my age argue with their parents on a daily basis, but my parents and I aren't like that. Don't ask me why, because I have no idea! We're lucky that in today's society, that we have the courage to speak up to our parents. To talk back, to disagree, sometimes we even scream the words I HATE YOU. Back in the day, children were told to be "seen and not heard". And were taught to be afraid of their fathers. We really are lucky to say what we think around them today. But does that mean we should? I don't think I have ever told either of my parents that I hated them, even in my biggest tantrums; I would never dare to even say those three words. Because you never know, it may seem like the smallest thing in the world to you, but to your mum or dad, those three words can feel like a stab to the heart. So, kids, in your next tantrum, try the words "I DISAGREE!". That may seem more appropriate.

I'm lucky to have the relationship I have with my dad, no matter what, I can always count on him to help me with anything. Even if he's miles away: he will always be there for me. And I know what he'd say after reading this: "What do you want to borrow?!" So, here's to you, dad! I love you more than I can say, and here's a big THANK YOU for everything you've done for me.

And here's to all the dad's out there! I hope you have all a wonderful Father's Day, and I will see you guys next week!

Happy Father's Day, dad! From your little princess x

Gossip Girls: Perception isn't Reality

Hey guys!

I've been wanting to make this post for a long time, but I wanted to do it at a time that was beneficial for my lovely audience, as my blog has grown over the last month to a point where I feel I can really chat with you guys about relevant stuff.

Now, I know what you're thinking, this isn't going to be a big old "bitch sesh", but today I do want to discuss something that I know a lot of you guys can relate to: dealing with gossip.

The Nightclub Mating Dance

Hey guys, today's post is going to a be a bit of a silly one, but it's something that I feel should be discussed.

(Photography by David Pritchard)

If you've read my previous Sunny Sunday posts, you will know that I have been going out for drinks and clubbing with my friends the past couple of Saturday's. Now, to some 20 year old's, that seems pretty tame compared to the crazy nights out teenagers have nowadays; who go out 3 nights a week, and sometimes more! (Especially if you're a student over the age of 18!). But for me, "clubbing" and getting drunk is a special occasion. I thoroughly enjoy drinking with friends and dancing the night away, purely because I don't do it often. The fact of the matter is: I like to take care of my body, and to me, having fun doesn't have to include alcohol.

Still, these last couple of Saturday's have been interesting one's, particularly for one special reason.

The Nightclub Mating Dance.

Let me explain. My night's out usually consist of pre-drinking (either at a friends house when you're getting ready, or at a nice pub or bar for cocktails with friends). Then, following that, we will head to our local Weatherspoons for one more drink to socialise with more friends and/or strangers. (Mainly strangers for my last night's out!). After that last drink, then we would head off to either another bar or a club, where we can let loose and dance our cares away. Seem's pretty standard, right?

Well, if you're over the age of 18, you will know that there is always one club that you definitely do not want to venture into. You never start the night there, unless you're desperate, and if you're lucky, you will hopefully never venture in there at all. But my luck seemed to be a little different these last two Saturday's, as both night's ended at this club. And, to add what I said before, you don't want to go into this club unless you are completely off your face drunk so that you barely remember entering it in the first place.

I, on the other hand, was sober. Too sober.

Because I was sober, I had the chance to take a look at this club in a new light, and see if it was as bad as everyone says. Don't get me wrong, I had a great time! The club played great music, and I only saw, maybe, 3 smashed glasses on the floor? But the main thing I noticed in this club is something that, to me, looked super weird. And creepy. And it happened to me about 4 times last Saturday, and 3 times the Saturday before. And that is: the nightclub mating dance.

Picture this: You're dancing in the club with your friends, the place is packed out, lights are flashing and the music is so loud, you can feel your ear drums pumping along with the bass. You're wacking out your best dance moves to your favourite song (Uptown Funk, for me at the mo!) when suddenly, you feel someone touching one of your hip bones. You ignore it and try to move away, then you feel their other hand on your other hipbone. Before you have time to react, their crotch is pushing against your bum like they're trying to dry hump you in front of a crowd of people; you feel their breath on your neck, and you have no clue who it is because they crept up on you from behind.

Yeah, that happened to me 4 times in a row.

Smacking their hands away, you turn around to give them a piece of your mind, when you realise that the same thing is happening to girls all around you! You politely decline their offer to dry hump you, and then they look at you with slight disappointment before heading out on the prowl for their next victim.

Now, to someone who goes out clubbing all the time, that's probably the norm. But to me, you know, the girl who still thinks men can be chivalrous and gentlemanly, it really took me by surprise. And can we discuss how friggin' creepy it is? I mean, they come up to you FROM BEHIND. There is no mutual agreement between you; no "May I have this dance?" No sexy eye contact from across the dancefloor like you see in the movies. Just you having a great time dancing, and then BAM! Dry humping.

I'd like to add to my experience of this, and mention that one of the guys that tried doing this to me, when I politely told him to get off of me, he said: "Look, it's my mates birthday, would you mind if you...you know...?"

...What?

I didn't want to know.

Creepy as hell. Let's just say after that, I grabbed my bestie and we moved far away from that creep. If this is the way guys think is the right way to attract a woman when they're drunk, I hate to think what they think is a good way to attract a woman when they're sober! In fairness, I'm sure not all guys are like that in nightclubs, but the fact that I not only saw it happen to other girls (some who seemed to enjoy it, to be honest!) that I actually experienced myself; I think I'd rather stick to staying in and watching a movie.

And that's it for this post! Hope you guys enjoyed it, and comment down below if you've ever experienced the nightclub mating dance! And I will see you guys on Sunday for another Sunny Sunday!

Blogging Newbie: Why I'm Here!

Hello readers!

Today's post is just going to be a regular, chit-chatty post, as I realised that most people who read my blog that don't have a blog themselves don't really understand what and why I have one, and I thought that I would just clear up a few things. Don't worry, it won't be super long, but I do feel it's kind of necessary!

May Favourites!

Hello, all! June is here, which means it's time for my May Favourites!

I have been loving a lot of stuff this month, and they're a little all over the place, so I should probably stop rambling on, and get to it as we may be here all night! So, here are my faves!
