Candy Floss Hair Trend...Shall I?

The dream. (All photo's were found on google and are not mine!)

Hi there! Firstly, sorry about not blogging for...6 months...

...I've been a little busy.

BUT, I am back! And today, rather than delve into what I've been doing for the last 6 months, which I will explain at some point (just not today), I thought I would talk about something that has literally been on the top of my head for the past year. My hair, to be exact.

As someone who has been dying their hair since they were 14, this new trend of dying your hair an unusual colour has really had me torn. When I first dyed my hair at 14, it was because I was bored with my natural hair colour, as it was a dull, ashy, dirty blonde colour (can I even call it blonde? Probably not...) and at the time, I was super obsessed with the teen star Ashley Tisdale, whom I still adore to this day. When I found out that my favourite actress was naturally a brunette, I thought: "Why can't I have hair like hers? Mine is so boring compared to hers! I WANT HER BLONDE HAIR!"

So, after asking my lovely mum very politely, she agreed to dye my hair for me.

The transformation! 6 years of hair dying! (But still have that disastrous pout...some things never change!)

After 6 years of box dying, (for anyone interested, I would always use the L'Oreal Paris Nutrisse Cream in the shade Ice Blonde/10.1) it got to a point that my hair was so brassy and damaged, I needed to get to a hair salon to get it the shade I desired. Now, my hair is exactly how I wanted it to be all along (as shown on the right side of the picture above). With extra highlights and lowlights to make it look at least a little bit natural. But still, an urge to be different haunts me.

Recently, the "candy floss" hair trend has been filling up my social media pages every time I log on. And, at first, I was totally not on board. Why would anyone want pink hair? What's the point in it? It looks ridiculous?

However, the more I saw it, the more it grew on me. To a point where I was so intrigued, I even downloaded a "Hair Colour Booth" app on my phone and edited a selfie I took a while ago, to see what I would look like with bubblegum pink hair...and to be honest, I loved it! After experimenting with various shades of pink, the desired shade I would go would be the classic silvery/pale pink shade that is currently the top favourite among others.

Now why I am I in debate about this; to you readers it seems that it's pretty obvious that I really want to join the band wagon, so why am I not? Well, the choice for some people is a lot easier when their jobs allow them. However, in my profession, it's all about looking hire-able. To look like everyone else, to look relatable and to fit in with the crowd. You wouldn't see someone with candy floss hair performing on the west end, or being a Disney Princess, or promoting products on your TV screens. Unfortunately, as happy as I am with my lot, this trend is one that simply have to surpass. And it sucks. A lot. For now, I can only dream.

Possible before and after? I WISH!

But what do you guys think? Leave a comment below if you think I should just bite the bullet and do it! I am only 20, after all! Is now my only chance? Let me know!

Thanks for reading guys, and if you have candy floss hair, I am very jealous of how cool you are!

Love, Fawce xoxo
